Since its inception in 2018, the Forum has emerged as one of the United Kingdom’s flagship security dialogues. Over the past six years, hosted aboard the Royal Navy’s 5th generation aircraft carriers, the Forum’s mission has been to inform and inspire critical debate while shaping strategic responses to the evolving threats and opportunities that face the United Kingdom, the United States, NATO and our global allies.
During AFF 2024, held this year at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, we discussed the pressing security issues dominating the geopolitical landscape today.
At a time when the rules-based international order is under pressure, the importance of alliances, closer ties and strategic interoperability cannot be overstated. Whether it is defending against hybrid warfare, combating cyber threats, or addressing threats from state and non-state actors to economic security, our nations face complex, interconnected challenges that require united action.
The Atlantic Future Forum provides a unique environment for addressing these challenges by bringing together public and private sector leaders, alongside colleagues from academia and think tanks. The role of industry is particularly critical, as the rapid pace of technological advancement reshapes both opportunities and vulnerabilities in the global security landscape. The insights and ideas shared are helping inform the strategies that safeguard our future.
